The Xerox WorkCentre M20i printer is a multifunction monochrome machine designed for use in businesses. In addition to prints from your computer, it offers fax, scanning and walk up copying services. Fax transmission can be delayed in order to take advantage of phone rates when they are lower and the battery back up for the fax will last up to 100 hours on a full charge.
The print resolution of this Xerox machine is 600 x 600 dpi. If desired, you can choose a 1,200 x 1,200 interpolated resolution. While this resolution is very standard among today's printers, it is more than adequate for most businesses, especially for monochrome prints. Scan resolution for the machine is also at 600 x 600 dpi and the fax can use presets of up to 400 x 400 dpi.
The internal processor is a 32-bit RISC processor. It also contains a video controller functionality memory. The processor allows scanning directly to e-mail and can store up to 200 locations for dialing in the 80 MB memory. While the processor may seem small compared to many of the color printers on the market today, it is quite sufficient for the monochrome prints produced by this machine.
Several sizes and types of media can be used on this machine. Print sizes range from 5 x 7 to legal size. In addition the machine will automatically select the correct paper size for the print.
The machine features halftone grayscale printing which can save toner. Rather than copies with large areas of black printing, the gray scale allows prints to use less Xerox WorkCentre replacement toners but still be readable. This can both save on toner and make better copies.
The Xerox WorkCentre M20i printer is more than just a printer. It is a multifunction machine that is designed to be used by medium-sized businesses. While it only prints in black, scanning can be done using color. The machine will meet many of the needs for a small business as a printer, as well as those of a workgroup.
