What are plastic sleeves and how are they used?
Vinyl sleeves are made of two pieces of plastic, usually PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride) that have been sealed together using heat or RF (radio frequency).The two pieces of vinyl are sealed together on three sides to form a pocket, pouch or sleeve that can be used to store various (mostly flat) items or documents.The most common uses for PVC sleeves are page protectors, presentation sleeves, menu covers, or business card holders. The PVC sleeves are preferred for presentation materials as they are very clear, without significant distortion while also being mostly impermeable.This protects the inserts from many environmental factors which is why these sleeves are commonly used for archiving documents.Vinyl or plastic sleeves can also be used for menu holders as they are easy to clean and protect the menu from damage from constant use.
Vinyl sleeves and pouches come in a variety of sizes, colors, and thicknesses but generally, the sleeves are made in 6 mil to 10 mil clear plastic.The surface of the material is usually determined by the application. For example, when the sleeves are used for presentation materials, document storage and collector pieces the vinyl sleeves are clear or polished clear.The cover provide storage and protection for the insert or collectable while offering a package that is waterproof and has very low visual distortion. This allows the materials or documents within the sleeve to be read or reviewed freely without direct contact which can be important to preserving the coin, document, or item.For more demanding environments or applications, say holding a menu, the vinyl sleeve may be purchased with a thicker plastic so that the packaging may be more durable.
Plastic envelopes are commonly used to hold stamps, coins, documents and other collectables.The plastic sleeves are chosen because they are very inexpensive and provide a lightweight, waterproof and durable protection while having very low visual distortion.The minimal distortion means that the collectable item, say a baseball card or stamp can be viewed and handled without damaging the collectable. By protecting the collectable from fluids, the sleeve will protect it from damage due to spills or changes in humidity.But, when you are using plastic sleeves for your most precious collectables or pictures, it is important to use acid-free materials so that there is no damage to the collectable or transfer of the image in a photograph that would ruin it.
Plastic sleeves are a great way to add to your presentation.By using the polished clear vinyl sleeves, you can add weight to your documents and add that refined look to your graphics within the document. We have all been taught that things that are shiny are usually valuable and that things that are dull are not.It is for this reason that the photographic papers have been using glossy finishes on their papers to add impact of the images printed on them.Where you are not going to use photographic quality paper for your documents, the cover can be showcased within a polished sleeve to highlight that this document is important enough to read and is valuable enough to protect.
What would be a good non-permanent adhesive?
I am in the process of putting up temporary luau decorations in a room made of painted concrete blocks. I bought a printed plastic material that you can hang on the walls to make it look like a bamboo hut. The material comes in sheets that are really thin and a lot like a thin plastic disposable one-use tablecloth you would buy for about a dollar.
Any good ideas on how to get this stuff to stay on the wall. We hung the room two nights ago using PERMANENT double sided adhesve squares (stuck great to the blocks, was lousy on the plastic). And went back over it with a big line of packaging tape (stuck great to plastic but not to walls). Today when i went to check on it two of the walls were completely down on the floor and the rest looked ready to fall at any time. Any teachers out there who knows how to get stuff like this to stay up in their classrooms? Thanks in advance.
Try museum adhesive...you can get it at craft stores and on QVC (qvc.com or 1-800-345-1515). It comes in a jar and is the consistency of putty, but is clear. It's used in museums and gift shops to secure glass collectibles to tables so they can be dusted without handling or breaking. It's clear and comes right off the surface when you want to remove it

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Tuesday announced a voluntary
recall of Super Luchamania action figures, manufactured in Mexico, because the
toys contained excessive levels of lead paint, federal officials said. The
recalled Mexican wrestling Super Luchamania action figures were sold in packs
of 12. The multi-colored action figures are plastic, including plastic capes
