Help with Calibrating Monitor to Pantone Book?
I'm using a Toshiba satellite laptop that is running windows 7 and I want to match the colors up to my Pantone solid coated book. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Well, that is one subject I can help you on since I own a printing company and I have to calibrate monitors to match the output. Otherwise, it would be a mess. Nothing complicated and I imagine you CAN calibrate it with the right instructions.
Here goes......
Scan a few matches from the Pantone book. Bring them up on your monitor. Now, use the eyedropper and click on any of the swatch. The RGB value should match that of the PANTONE book 98% which is more than what oyu will ever need. We tolerate a + or - 5% which is more than just close on our printouts. Usually, my printout matches the original which is important if a customer needs a proof.
Now, you cna create a profile and if their are some discrepencies, load a preset template from the color profile depending on your application. Once you have set it up, print the swatches. They should match those of the pantone book and what is on screen.
